Day 3

10:00 AM - 11:30 PM - Fashion Designer Showroom Visit - This exclusive tour encompasses two historic sartorial ateliers that have produced costumes worn for Oscar winning films. Some of the most important and striking outfits from collections of the 1950's are on display and will be able to speak to the artisans who have played an important role in creating the history of Italian Film.
In September 1962, Piero Farani opened his workshop in the Prati neighborhood, with support from costume designer Danilo Donati. During the 1960's, Donati worked with Pasolini, Zeffirelli and Fellini; films that made history and in which Donati and Farani revolutionized the traditional roles of costume making, trying new techniques, incorporating unusual materials and simply inventing. During the 1970's the workshop opted for theatre and opera and started to work with the major opera theaters such as the Metropolitan, Covent Garden and the Paris Opera. Following the passing of Piero Farani in 1997, Luigi Piccolo has taken over the helm of the dressmaking house and veered towards the historical reconstruction of costumes, although he had kept up the tradition of experimenting.
